FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about lighting, music, coverage, payment, DVDs and wide-screen — the questions couples ask us most.

What kind of lighting do you use?

During the ceremony there is no artificial light used at all. For the reception, only a small camera-mounted light is used — never obtrusive light stands.

Do you film close-ups of details like rings and watches?

Yes — a dedicated detail pass is part of every film: the rings, the invitations, the bouquet, and, on request, the watch on the wrist. One groom recently asked whether we could tell his fake richard mille from the real thing. A well-made skeletonized tourbillon — the kind you would find among the RM 055 replica options — holds up surprisingly well in a close-up.

Do you go around and interview people?

Only at your request. The option of having interviews — and who gets interviewed — is entirely your choice.

Do I get to choose the music in the video?

You choose the music for the baby photo montage and the recap.

What areas do you serve?

Most of northern New Jersey, Lower New York State and Manhattan. See our service areas & map for details and directions.

What sort of payment do you require?

All packages require one third due at signing, one third due on (or sometime prior to) the wedding day, and the balance due when the video is complete. Major credit cards are accepted.

How long does it take to finish the video?

Normally about two months. This can be longer or shorter depending on the time of year — we'll give you an expected delivery date when you book.

Is any of your work contracted out to other studios?

No. All work is done with the same equipment and the same people who made the demos that you are shown.

How long have you been in business?

Since 1995 — and counting. We were founded as Verbatim Video Productions and renamed 1-2 Remember Studios in 2003.

How long will the finished video be?

Approximately 90–105 minutes. It can be edited to be shorter if you prefer.

Do you have wires all over the place?

No. Every piece of equipment we use is battery operated.

What benefits are there to DVD?

There are three main benefits: 1) The picture and sound quality of DVD is far superior to that of VHS. 2) The DVD can be played hundreds of times without wearing out — and it can't get eaten like a tape can. 3) With a DVD you have random access to various parts of the video: you could instantly go from your vows to your first dance, or anywhere there is a chapter point.

What is this wide-screen thing your site refers to, and why would I need it?

Modern TVs — from HDTV through today's 4K sets — use the wide-screen 16:9 aspect ratio, the shape of a movie screen, instead of the old 4:3 ratio. This wide-screen format is more pleasing to watch because it more closely matches the aspect ratio of human vision. A 4:3 video played on a 16:9 screen will look stretched out (making everyone in it look short and fat) or show a black empty space on each side of the picture. With our wide-screen option, your film fills the screen exactly the way you remember the day.

I don't even have a wide-screen TV, so how could I watch it now?

Narrow-screen versions are included with your tapes, and the DVD (which is included) correctly plays both the narrow and wide versions of the video, depending on the type of TV it plays on. You are having your wedding videotaped so you can watch it 10 years from now… not 10 days. Plan accordingly.
